THE VISITER

That evening i was sitting in the balcony of my flat sipping coffee and thinking all about my past life, especially about my wife who was on her way back home from the job.
It was like 5 pm when the bell rang. It was surprising that she had come earlier than expected. But when I opened the door, there was no one outside.
I looked around but none.
Suddenly I felt something touching my feet, there was a puppy trying to climb me. I picked it up and looked for a collar. He wasn't wearing one.
I called the guard and asked him if he had seen anyone with a puppy coming into the society, he hadn't.
So I took the little one inside, Gave him some milk, he drank the whole bowl as if he was famished and slept there in the kitchen.
Another time the bell rang, i went towards the door and there she was, my beautiful wife.
Now let me tell you something about her, she just love dogs. For the past few years she had been pestering about adopting a puppy, but i sternly rejected to all her plea.
She sat down on sofa and asked me about my day. Ya i didn't go anywhere as i was I'll for the past 2 days.
I told her about that.
Suddenly it dawned on me, did she buy the puppy and put it at our door and rung the bell. No. If she had she won't have been acting this way, completely nonchalant.
I asked her if she wanted a puppy.
Her eyes just gleamed with hope.
"Really", that was what she could utter and tears started to flow.
I didn't know how but the puppy came to the room from the kitchen.
She ran towards the puppy, picked it up and laughed and i don't have more words to explain what was going on.

A few moments later she realised that I too was in the room.
She ran towards me, hugged me and thanked me for the precious gift that I had brought her.
I didn't tell her that 'the visitor' isn't ours and the owner might come any time to pick him up. I didn't want her joy to be over.
Another bell rang, and i thought that it must be the owner of the puppy, but it was the guard that had come with a parcel.
It has been a year since that unexpected visitor come to our house and had become a permanent member.
We named it 'Mowgli'.
My wife still doesn't have a clue that I hadn't bought it.
